Hosted by Kate Forbes, MSP, a tourism 'summit' was held at the Aros Centre in Portree to bring together key business leaders, stakeholders and representatives from tourism and business providers in Skye.
The principle of the session was to establish the challenges and opportunities for tourism in Skye and included presentations by Graeme Ambrose of the Inverness/Loch Ness tourism group and Carron Tobin of the Argyll and the Isles Tourism Cooperative. It is expected that the meeting will be the fist in a series of discussions with a follow up session in September.

Thank you for joining us on Friday afternoon at the Aros Centre in Portree. The purpose of the afternoon was to start a conversation between businesses, public bodies and local communities about how we can collaborate to deal with the many pressures on infrastructure as the number of tourists continue to grow.
There are obvious, immediate challenges to do with parking and toilets, but there's also a need to plan ahead for the next few years in a way that hasn't been done before. I will compile a list of your thoughts and comments, and welcome any additional ideas by email.
I recognise the growing frustrations across Skye and no meeting will solve everything. I hope, however, that we can work together to make tangible progress so that we can all make the most of the tourism growth.
