Development of a local business award scheme for businesses in Skye and the neighbouring areas based on visitor nomination / votes

The scheme will cover hospitality, outdoor activity, events, visitor attractions, crafts and gallery businesses. In addition, certain specific business operations such as environmental practice would attract designated awards.

The scheme will be operated from a website that will receive on line nominations made by visitors to the area and reflect positive visitor experiences.

Promotion of the awards would be via the award website, posters and flyers that can be distributed by business operators themselves. The website would include information regarding the awards, the awards committee (SkyeConnect Directors & category sponsors), The site would be linked to the SkyeConnect website and other relevant marketing sites.

The awards will include a dated wall plaque with the stated category and award logo. The award plaque would also be available in digital format so that winners would be able to include them on their own website. Plaques would be handed out at an annual award ceremony that includes a meal, a speaker and which would attract press coverage. Nominated businesses would be invited to attend and pay for tickets to attend the award ceremony.
